Welcome to the 2026-27 school year!
Whether you're new to our school or returning, I’m thrilled to welcome you to another exciting year as part of our Panda family.
At Da Vinci Junior High, we are more than just a school. We are a community built on collaboration, innovation and inclusivity. These values guide everything we do, both on campus and beyond, and shape the way we learn, grow, and support one another.
Our commitment to Project- Based learning sets us apart. DVJH students dive into real-world challenges, working together to create meaningful, engaging demonstrations of learning. In our classrooms, we value curiosity and creativity. This year holds so many exciting projects, and I cannot wait to see what our students achieve!
Our schoolwide instructional focus for the upcoming year is critical thinking. While critical thinking has always been an essential part of Project-Based Learning, we are making an intentional commitment to helping students develop the skills needed to analyze information, ask thoughtful questions, evaluate evidence, make reasoned decisions, and communicate their thinking effectively. Just as importantly, our staff will be learning alongside our students as we deepen our own understanding of how to teach and foster these essential lifelong skills. We are excited to grow together as a community of learners.
Equally important is the culture we continue to build together. One of Da Vinci's greatest strengths has always been the sense of belonging our students feel when they walk through our doors. This year, we are excited to expand that work with the addition of a dedicated WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) class. Our WEB leaders will play an important role in welcoming new students, building connections across grade levels, planning community-building activities, and developing student leadership throughout the year. We know that when students feel connected, supported, and included, they are able to do their very best learning.
Learning requires strong partnerships, and we look forward to working together with families and the Davis community to give your students the best possible education. Together, we’ll create a space where every learner is welcomed, supported, and inspired. Look for our weekly newsletter to stay up to date as to all that is happening on campus and how you can be involved. Please never hesitate to reach out; We are here to partner with you and support you.
Let’s make this a year to remember!
With gratitude,
Kait Sangster
