Driving Question:
How can we reimagine an extinct species?
Problem Statement:
Using our understanding of natural selection, how can we argue for or against bringing back an extinct species to a team of experts?
Project Overview:
Your team is tasked with identifying an extinct species within your given biome and imagining what adaptations would have been necessary to ensure survival. You will also be arguing whether or not this species should come back - what would be the ecological and ethical ramifications of doing so?You will craft a 12”x12” model and a wikipedia page to represent your species. The development of your species must be grounded in scientific thought and reason; evidence must support its development.

Student Quotes:
- "I liked the way you turned this into a very creative project. Like how we had to think of traits that would help with our creature in the modern day and not go extinct again. I also like how you did another website like last year in 7th grade, I enjoy doing these."
- "I liked how we had lots of control and say in the project. We were able to choose our animals and adaptations. I also like how we made a model, I thought it was really fun."
- "I liked getting to paper mache our creature. It was my first time ever paper macheing and I feel like it was a good skill to learn. I really enjoyed being able to do a hands on project."
